All You Need is Faith and Trust...

... and the essential elements of negotiation.

Enoch lost a tooth. He wanted to write the tooth fairy a little note, but did not want me to see it. I thought it was a love note, silly mommy.

"Dear Tooth Fairy,
If you leave 5 dollars on this I love you!  PS If you give me $7, I'll give you something next time!
From Enoch."

He got a quarter and a sticker along with a note saying something like, "Sorry, but I still love you."
Oh well, it was worth a shot.

How She Does It

Emma is amazing. Amazing grades, amazing hair, amazing life.
 How does she do it?!
Well, that's her secret.  But sometimes, if I am very lucky and very careful, I can can break into her sanctuary and snap a couple quick shots for all of us interested in her amazing life.

Here she is perched on her bed doing homework.
It's important to approach quietly from behind to avoid the Eye-Roll.
A front/side view and than I run! before she gives me the "MooOOmm!" whine that let's me know I've been spotted doing something uncool, un-amazing.
She's AMAZING!

Cuddled Up with a Good Book

Reading is a solitary activity only sometimes in our home. If the book is too good to wait for (especially if it has pictures) it is read en masse.

It's how we do.

2012 Martin Snowman

There's not been much snow this year. It's not a bad thing, but without snow, there are no snowmen. So when we did have a sticky, wet snow dump, I ordered my kids outside to make me a snowman.

The boys did a good job.

Willa did a walk around to see if she approves.

She did. Sadly, our snowman didn't last long. He was gone within the week.

Brothers and Legos

They thought they'd made something pretty special. They needed a picture to capture it forever.

I feel the same way about them.

Willa Washes

I know tis seems like such an odd thing to document for posterity, but at the moment it struck me as something so precious and fleeting, she's not going to need to use the toilet to reach the faucet for much longer.

Also of note: this is our bathroom, our bathroom, as in David's, Lisa's, Emma's, Taran's, Enoch's, Calvin's, Willa's, & Osacar's one and only bathroom.  Besides the bathtub (just on the other side of the picture) what you see is what you get.  On a busy Sunday morning we can fit the whole lot of us in there.  We are a very close family.  Perhaps too close, but that's the reality of little house, big family living.
