Leave Us A Message

Am I the only one who keeps favorite messages on their answering machines? You know, funny ones, clever ones, weird ones, ones that remind you of the people you love.
Call me weird, call me strange, just call me...
Anyway, the good old Martin answering machine has gotten a bit full, and I wondered what am I going to do with these messages I love?
Answer: Save it by blogging it!

Here is David on the road home from the eye doctors, bragging about his new glasses...

Here he is a few moments later, SINGING about his new glasses...

Now who could hit the delete forever button on that?

Merry Easter

It's that time of year when the world falls in love, every sound you hear seems to say... It's Snowing on Easter?!!

Minneapolis looked like this

So we packed up and headed south to find family, friends, and grass.

We visited Kirsti, Addie, Henry and the whole Meyer clan in Madison, South Dakota.
On Saturday we dyed eggs, watched TV, and reconnected.
Then on Sunday we went to the Seventh Day Adventist Church? (the LDS building is being renovated)and from there we bundled up and waited for the Easter Bunny at Peggy's house...

The Hunt is on!
Calvin and Addie start to search.

Enoch, come on down!

Addie knows that it's what's inside the "basket" that counts.

Taran searches.

Kirsti and Henry point out a snow bunny.
In the words of Kirsti, "Wahahaha, I'm funny!"

The bounty of the bunny in motion.

Hadassah and Emma, cousins-no-second cousins!

The whole gang (minus Cheryl the camera man).

Henry in his spring finery.

He's just too cute to only post one picture!

The yearly peep challenge.

Hey Kirsti, Cheryl, what's that peeping out of your mouth?
(Now who's worthy of wahahaha?)

Martin Quote

Calvin: (on one side of the bathroom door) Mommy?!
Mommy: (on other side of the bathroom door) Calvin.
Calvin: Mommy?!
Mommy: Calvin.
Calvin: Mommy?!
Mommy: Calvin.
Calvin: Mommy?!
(Continue until Mommy emerges.)

We also play it with Mommy upstairs and Calvin downstairs. It's our own Martin version of Marco Polo.

We Are Greatful For...

It's Sunday and we are looking for something to do. We've decided to post pictures of things we are thankful for.

"She's my favorite bear because I got her when I was born."

"Hot wheels are so awesome. They are so cool. I like to do fire races."

"I like dinosaurs because I like them."

"Uh-uh be-be."

"I am thankful for my awesome, cool, family and the very sturdy furniture we have."

An aside: I love Sundays. They really are a day set apart from the rest of the week. Every toy we own has been touched and dumped on the floor today. I took a nap. The smell of roast beef wafts from the crock pot all afternoon. We usually eat dessert!
And of course we go to church. Today in primary, Taran gave a talk. Right before the talk Enoch jumped out of his seat and started running around the room. Then Taran stood up to the podium and flipped all the papers that had been put there off into the audience. Finally, I caught Enoch and Taran was taken down from the podium by the Primary president and secretary. Then, after his introduction, Taran gave a wonderful talk on being like Jesus while Enoch sat in daddy's lap.

Wild Man in the Land

He makes me want to grab him and smother his squishy cheeks with kisses. He makes me want to laugh until I wet myself. He makes me want burst a lung screaming. Presenting my three-year-old Enoch...

I was working at the computer when Enoch came up from behind and announced, "Mommy, my hair fell off!"

The Surreal Cafe. Come as you are, clothes optional, socks required. Today's special: trains.

West meets Mid-West

Debbie and Max came to stay at our house for a couple of days. We had so much fun with those guys that we called the airlines up and tried made it impossible for Debbie and Max to leave. But even when we gnashed our terrible teeth and roared our terrible roars, Max left.
But we do have these pictures.

Girl's night out. We ate and talked. And talked. And talked. And talked...

Enoch, Calvin, Taran, and Max at home in Big Bird's nest.

Standing on the frozen Mississippi. It was quite a hike down to the river, but it was beautiful. This is the first time the Martins got this close-we're actually standing on it. Thanks Debbie for getting us down to the mighty River.

Eager Beavers!
We were directed to a fresh beaver chewed tree by other hikers on the river. Photo op!

And Emma:

All while our national symbol looks on.

The Mall of America. No trip to Minneapolis is complete without an indoor theme park ride. Come and get one!

Come back soon Debbie and Max and next time bring Tony!

How to Get Out of Church

Guess what? Today is day light savings! How do I know? Well, the entire Martin clan trooped into Sacrament meeting-bags, bickering kids, and all-one hour and five minutes late. It took us five minutes more to figure what was happening (to the delight of the rest of the congregation). And that is my life in a nutshell.

Martin Quote

Mommy: Come here let me give you a kiss.
Enoch: Princesses have to kiss.
Mommy: Am I a princess?
Enoch: No, you're a girl!
