WAY up North

(Now do you see why I've been putting this off?)
A few days after Alexandria, we went not too far from the border of Canada.
Lake Itasca is the start of the Mighty Mississippi. We spent a night camping with the McKees.

On our way there we got a little lost, guess this far up north they don't even bother with naming the roads.

Finally, we arrived at our camp ground and I set David to work!

After good food, a campfire, some adult talk, and a lovely night in a tent, we cleaned camp and went to learn about the Big Muddy.
Here Joseph and Enoch listen at the visitor's center.

Then of course we forged that legendary river.

Emma even swam in it.

Here's the proud family that survived the crossing.

Afterwards, we went to take in the view--of the ENTIRE park.

Emma and David along with various McKees climbed to the top. Like any sane car-sick, pregnant-sick woman, I stayed in the car.
